New! Fashion Design

Get ready for the runway!  Learn, design and create with our new fashion design camp  located in our fashion design studio. Begin the fundamentals of fashion illustration and drawing the basic fashion croqui (figure). Use mediums such as colored pencil, marker, water color, and gouache, see your designs come to life – just like the pros. Learn the basic fundamentals of sewing, expressed through a small take-home project.

Bioethics in the 21st Century

Examine some of the 21st century issues in bioethics.  Topics to include stem cell technology, gene editing with CRISPR, introducing genetically modified organisms into the environment, xenotransplantation, cloning technologies, the use of DNA vaccines, ownership and access to a person’s genetic information, and more! Students will learn about the science behind these issues and how to engage in an organized and thoughtful debate from multiple stakeholder perspectives. Camp activities will include use of case-studies, videos, articles, discussion and debate.

Programming Robots with Arduino Microprocessors (Beginners)       

Learn the principles of integrated circuits and programming while utilizing the skills of schematic design. Students design and build several circuits to produce light, sound and motor movement within both series and parallel circuits while controlled through programming. The course ends with a competition using Arduino programmable Robots within a design challenge competing with their classmates.

Engineering Design - An Introduction

Use engineering design principles while utilizing 3-D CAD software. Learn to read engineering drawings for manufacturing products, and review American National Standards Institute guidelines for designing products. Identify, create, and read working drawings, apply dimensions, identify and create pictorial drawings, and learn sketching techniques. Create orthographic, oblique, isometric, and perspective sketches and exploded views. AutoDesk Inventor and modeling software provide hands-on experience. Create a digital portfolio to save, and download a free copy of AutoDesk Inventor 2019.

Baking Basics/Culinary Education Center             

Be introduced to the fundamentals of baking in a commercial kitchen (four time Chopped champion Emily Chapman attended) and taught by a professional chef. Topics include scaling and measurements; ingredient fundamentals and the principles and techniques used in the preparation of baked goods, equipment, food safety, and sanitation. Hands-on baking to include a wide variety of recipes (i.e. cream puffs, scones, cookies, cakes, and more!) Professional kitchen rules apply – students will clean equipment, tools after use and must wear long pants and closed toe shoes (no loafers, sandals, etc.)

Auto Tech Intro

Find out where the rubber meets the road. Explore auto tech fundamentals in our state-of-the-art automotive facility. Learn some of the basics of automotive service such as oil changes, brake inspections and tire mounting and balancing. Whether you are a future automotive tech or a car-loving consumer, this is a rare opportunity to find out if what’s under the hood is under your skin. Proper attire required in lab: no shorts, tank tops or open-toed shoes. Program meets at Lincroft campus Auto Tech Lab/Bay.
